I was asked some time ago what it means when the contents of a dream are about masturbation.Scripture states, "Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ" (2 Corinthians 10:5). Dreams involving masturbation are spiritual symbols pointing to a spirit of perversion trying to corrupt the dreamer's spirit. People who are attempting to break covenants with sexual immorality, and those who fast, especially frequently or for extended periods, will more than likely experience such dreams.
The Enemy understands that it's difficult to distract a person focused on God, particularly during a fast, during the daytime, or while awake. Of course, that person would resist, rebuke, and challenge those evil thoughts and imaginations, and bring them under captivity to the obedience of Christ, as the spiritual law instructs us to do.
The Enemy also recognizes that we are most vulnerable during sleep and exploits this, as reflected in spiritual law: "But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed tares among the wheat, and went his way" (Matthew 13:25). Some Christians get discouraged when they seem to maintain their Christian walk well during the day, but then experience sexual dreams at night or when they go to sleep. Such dreams must be actively canceled, rebuked, and destroyed by fire in Jesus' name. Remember, sexual dreams, including those involving masturbation, establish demonic covenants in the spiritual realm through the dream, which, if not canceled, can lead to evil manifestations in reality.
Dreams involving masturbation often symbolize selfishness. If the dreamer is the one masturbating, it suggests they possess a selfish spirit. If another person is shown masturbating, the dream might indicate that the individual being observed has selfish tendencies, or, based on their traits, it could represent someone in the dreamer's life who shares those characteristics.
Dreams involving masturbation may also signify a spirit of poverty attempting to attach itself to the dreamer. Masturbation primarily relates to seeking sexual pleasure. Often, it is an addiction where the individual is fixated on achieving pleasure. The Bible states regarding those who pursue pleasure: "He that loveth pleasure shall be a poor man" Proverbs 21:17. Consequently, from a spiritual perspective, an obsession with pleasure can open the door for a spirit of poverty to influence the person.
In any event, such dreams must be met with brutal spiritual opposition, such as canceling and rebuking them. Evil spirits never seek a casual relationship with humanity. In fact, it is of no profit to them. Instead, they seek to establish subtle covenants with their human victims, thereby gaining legal rights to destroy the individual's life. Of course, one of the most common ways this is established is through dreams.
