Discerning What Your Five Senses Cannot: The Language of the Human Spirit

Our human spirit communicates with the spirit world through discernment, a language that can be difficult
to trust for those who rely primarily on their five senses to gain understanding.

The Spirit of God has warned you about someone you've been uneasy around for some time now. But as usual, your reliance on your five senses has convinced you that your feeling is just a figment of your imagination. Despite the absence of any physical evidence, the uneasy feeling persists. Let's examine Scripture to clarify this strange, yet true, occurrence.

Your Spirit Perceives What Your Senses Cannot.

Paul writes that the deep things of God are revealed by a mechanism that has nothing to do with the eyes or the ears:

"But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him. But God hath revealed them unto us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, yea, the deep things of God." (1 Corinthians 2:9-10)

He then draws the comparison that grounds this entire teaching:

"For what man knoweth the things of a man, save the spirit of man which is in him? even so the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." (1 Corinthians 2:11)

In other words, your spirit can perceive and discern things beyond your five physical senses. Through your spirit, you can understand and become aware of spiritual things you would have no other way of knowing. This is not a new or fringe idea. Scripture describes it as a built-in function of how God designed man:

"The spirit of man is the candle of the LORD, searching all the inward parts of the belly." (Proverbs 20:27)

Your spirit was designed to search and to sense what your eyes cannot see, and your ears cannot hear.

When Your Spirit Says No

This is why, if you're in a room with a stranger, and that stranger leaves, you may find yourself saying, without any evidence to point to, "My spirit doesn't take to that person" or "My spirit doesn't agree with that person." Notice what you said: your spirit, not your eyes, not your ears, not your logic. Nothing available to your five senses revealed it to you. Something deeper did.

It is crucial to walk according to the guidance of the Holy Spirit, so you are not misled by the flesh, meaning your five senses. In moments like these, the Holy Spirit is speaking directly to your human spirit, and your job is to recognize His voice rather than talk yourself out of it.

Exercised to Discern

Discernment is not automatic. It is a muscle that grows stronger the more it is used:

"But strong meat belongeth to them that are of full age, even those who by reason of use have their senses exercised to discern both good and evil." (Hebrews 5:14)

The more you practice trusting what your spirit is telling you, and confirming it in prayer and in Scripture, the sharper that discernment becomes.

Ask God to Confirm What's Hidden

Here is my advice on this matter: simply ask God to clarify and confirm to your human spirit whatever is being hidden from you.

"Father, just as the morning sun exposes the darkness of night, let the elements of darkness set against me be likewise revealed, in the name of Jesus Christ."

Sleep Waves of Witchcraft Are Real

Sleep waves of witchcraft are real. People under witchcraft attacks at work may experience difficulty
staying awake and a lack of motivation to perform their tasks. Evil sleep waves of witchcraft are evil spirits assigned to a person. Once this person arrives at work, they may feel unusually sleepy, even though they had a full night's rest and probably had a cup of coffee just before arriving. However, as long as the victim is in their work area, they will continue to battle hours of yawning and do everything they can to stay awake.

Signs of a Witchcraft Attack at Work

Secondly, the victim will mysteriously lose all desire and motivation to complete or even perform their job. Depending on the level of witchcraft attack projected against them, they can also experience frequent forgetfulness, an inability to focus or concentrate, and a mysterious loss of their train of thought in the middle of a conversation or even a presentation. Even more surprising, the more the victim tries to recall their ideas, the more impossible it becomes to remember what they want to say next.

Determining Where the Attack Is Rooted

So how can a person determine if the witchcraft attack is reserved just for their workstation or the entire workplace? If the victim experiences sleepiness only at their workstation but not in any other section of the workplace, then the witchcraft point of contact is invisible or visible at their workstation. Suppose the victim relocates to another section of the workplace and continues to experience sleepiness. In that case, it can be concluded that the entire property is cursed by witchcraft.

When Sleep Won't Come at Home

Now, here is where it becomes fascinating. While the victim has difficulty staying awake at the workplace, amazingly, again depending on the level of witchcraft attack, they have problems going to sleep at their residence. Yet the victim is unaware of the spirit of insomnia projected into their life. So the victim will experience tiredness and every other sign that they want to sleep but, for some strange reason, cannot. The purpose of such witchcraft attacks is to frustrate and fatigue the victim.

Dreams That Confirm Spiritual Attack

To further confirm that the victim is being attacked spiritually by witchcraft, the victim will be overwhelmed by dreams where they are chased, fighting, swimming, or flying. Again, depending on the level of the attack, the victim would have repeated dreams where they are either being fed, eating, or being chased by dogs or strange animals. Nightly nightmares would be expected at this point in the victim's life.

Physical Objects and Physical Symptoms

It is essential to be aware that seemingly innocent objects, such as necklaces, souvenirs, plants, and unusual scents, can negatively affect the workplace. Malicious individuals may use these items to harm specific coworkers, leading to physical symptoms like frequent accidents, strange sickness, headaches, and confusion that can impact job performance.

When the Attack Escalates

The victim's condition will escalate to strange pains in their body and discoloration of their skin, especially their face. The victim will begin to age rapidly and slowly lose mobility, needing assistance such as a walker or cane. Despite many visits to the doctor, the doctor will be baffled because the person's apparent debilitating condition does not match the medical test results.

What to Do If You Recognize These Signs

If you are experiencing unusual sleepiness on the job, especially when there is nothing to warrant it, then more than likely there is witchcraft in your workplace. If you are not a Christian, or you do not have someone standing in the gap for you in prayer, then more than likely the one sending the attacks will succeed against you.

Secondly, if you are a Christian experiencing all the signs mentioned above, then it is clear that you have unconfessed sin in your life. According to the rules of spiritual warfare, a curse cannot descend upon you unless there is a reason:

"As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come." (Proverbs 26:2)

To be clear, unconfessed sin in your life could be the reason these attacks succeed. Unconfessed sin is not limited to the victim, but also their ancestors. As a result of an ancestor's unconfessed sins, iniquities, and transgressions, spiritual doors have opened, providing legal and spiritual grounds for attacks on future generations. Of course, direct sin would be an active sin in the believer's life that has not been addressed through confession and repentance.

"Let no one be found among you who sacrifices their son or daughter in the fire, practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, casts spells, or is a medium or spiritist or consults the dead." (Deuteronomy 18:10-11)

A Word to Pastors: Guarding Your Family and Ministry From Spiritual Attack

This is a clarion call to pastors. The enemy's assignment against a ministry rarely begins with a frontal
attack on the pulpit. More often, it targets what's closest to the shepherd: his marriage, his wife, and his children. A shepherd under pressure at home will eventually lead a congregation under pressure, and the enemy knows this better than most pastors do.

The Enemy Targets What's Closest to You

Many pastors' households carry a weight that looks different from ordinary family strain: unexplained heaviness, sickness that resists a clear diagnosis, seasons of confusion or emotional turmoil, and tension in the marriage that seems to intensify as the ministry grows. None of this proves any single person or cause. But it should move every pastor to bring his household before God in prayer rather than dismiss what he and his wife are sensing.

Scripture never says ministry exempts a family from spiritual warfare. If anything, it tells us the opposite: the shepherd and his household are often the first target, because striking the shepherd scatters the sheep.

Guard Against Ignorance

The greatest advantage the enemy has in any Church is a congregation and a leadership that has not been taught to recognize spiritual warfare for what it is:

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge." (Hosea 4:6)

A pastor who avoids the subject of spiritual warfare, whether from discomfort, fear of controversy, or simple neglect, leaves his household and his congregation without the tools to recognize an attack when it comes. Teaching your people to test what they hear and discern what they feel is not optional. It is part of shepherding well.

Do Not Let Deception Creep In

Paul warned an entire church about exactly this danger:

"O foolish Galatians, who hath bewitched you, that ye should not obey the truth, before whose eyes Jesus Christ hath been evidently set forth, crucified among you?" (Galatians 3:1)

The word bewitched in this text suggests being placed under a spell or led astray from the truth. Paul's charge to the Galatians is a charge to every church: test everything, including prophetic words, against Scripture.

"Despise not prophesyings. Prove all things; hold fast that which is good." (1 Thessalonians 5:20-21)

A word that produces fear, discouragement, or a sense of inevitable doom, rather than conviction that leads to repentance and hope, deserves careful testing before it is received as coming from God.

Vengeance Belongs to God

Where a pastor senses that harm has genuinely been done to his family, Scripture is clear about where the response belongs:

"Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." (Romans 12:19)

This is not a call to ignore what is wrong. It is a call to bring it to the only One qualified to judge it rightly, rather than turning suspicion into accusation without evidence, or turning hurt into a hunt for someone to blame.

The Solution: Repentance and Discernment

The solution begins with pastors examining their own hearts: repenting anywhere a personal agenda has been placed above God's plan, and anywhere leaders have been elevated for loyalty rather than character. Ask God to amplify your spirit of discernment, rather than leaning on feelings or first impressions alone. Ask Him for wisdom in who you place close to your family and your pulpit.

Gather genuine men and women of faith around you, and commit to a season of prayer and fasting for your household and your ministry: for protection, for clarity, for the removal of confusion, sickness, and division, and for God's covering over your family. Trust Him as the one who sees what you cannot, and who alone repays rightly.
